The safety valve is installed on the equipment, container or pipeline to protect the overpressure. When the pressure in the container or pipeline exceeds the allowable value, the valve will automatically open to discharge the medium; When the pressure drops to the specified value, the valve will automatically close.
The safety valve can be divided into direct acting type and pilot operated type according to different driving modes. The direct type is directly driven by the system pressure at the valve inlet. At this time, it overcomes the medium pressure under the valve disc by the mechanical load provided by the spring or heavy hammer. The pilot type is driven by a structure, which uses the mechanism to release or apply a closing force to open or close the safety valve.
Safety valves can be divided into:
1. Spring type safety valve
Use the force of the compression spring to balance the pressure of the valve disc, so that the safety valve is sealed. The safety valve has the advantages of high sensitivity, portability and unlimited installation position. This type of safety valve is commonly used. The disadvantage is that the compression force of the spring changes with the deformation of the spring. When the temperature is high, the spring has heat insulation and heat dissipation problems.
2. Lever and heavy hammer safety valve
The force of the heavy hammer is amplified by the lever and loaded on the valve disc. The advantage is that the force loaded on the valve disc remains unchanged during the opening and closing of the valve. The disadvantage is that it is sensitive to vibration and has poor reseating performance. Commonly used on fixed equipment.
3. Pulse type safety valve
The main valve and auxiliary valve are designed together to drive the main valve through the pulse action of the auxiliary valve. It is commonly used in large diameter, large displacement and high-pressure systems.
